Visitors

Welcome to the visitors' area of the Kingston Hospital website.  We hope that you find all you need on these pages.  If not, please contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service - PALS (details below).

We actively encourage visiting and the involvement of visitors and carers while patients are in hospital.  Keeping in contact with friends and relatives is an important part of a patient’s recovery.   However, if you or anyone thinking of visiting has had any symptoms of diarrohoea or vomiting in the past 72 hours  you should not visit any hospital.  You need to be 48 hours clear before you can visit to avoid spreading any germs to patients.  The same applies if you have any symptoms of flu.   Please see the pages on infection control for more advice.

We strongly recommend that visitors use public transport to get to the hospital.  If you wish to travel by car, please be aware that parking at the hospital site is very limited and you should allow yourself plenty of time to find a parking space.   At busy times, there may be queues for spaces.  The hospital has pay and display car parks on site and the charging period for the car park is from 8:00am to 8:00pm, seven days a week.   You will need to have the correct change for the pay and display machines (please note, we do not have change machines).  The current minimum fee is £1.80 (for the first hour) and £1.50 for each hour thereafter (up to five hours).

There are many ways in which visitors can be involved in a patient's care, such as helping at meal times, and we are happy to support visitors to do so, if that is the patient’s wish.

The wards have different visiting times, depending on the needs of the patients, so please check with the individual wards.

PALS acts as a central point for information.  PALS can also help to sort out problems or concerns that you may have about the hospital’s services when you have not been able to do so by speaking to the staff on the ward or in the clinic.

If you still feel that there are issues to be resolved having used PALS, they can also provide you with information about the formal complaints process.

The PALS service operates:

  • Monday – Friday:  9am – 5pm

The PALS office is situated at the junction of the link corridor and Bernard Meade Wing.
