Kingston Hospital have just appointed their first Macmillan Dietitian. Dietitians work alongside the medical team in providing evidence-based expert advice on diet, appropriate to each person’s diagnosis. We provide nutritional counselling to patients and their families and carers at any stage of their cancer treatment and during rehabilitation. This can range from help with common eating problems associated with cancer and the side effects of treatment, to providing specialist nutritional support during a hospital admission.
We can also be found giving group talks to patients, where we discuss common misconceptions about diet and cancer, find out about the most recent guidelines, and look at healthy eating advice and recommendations. For those with lots of hospital commitments, we can give advice over the phone and post leaflets out, to try and support as many people in any way possible.
If you would like to speak to a Dietitian, please discuss this with your nurse or medical specialist who can refer you to our team.
