Gynaecological Cancer

Our Rapid Access Clinics provides a fast track assessment for women who have been referred with possible gynaecological cancer, to diagnose or rule out cancer as soon as possible.

There is a dedicated ultrasound service for these clinics and we hope to provide an ultrasound on the same day of the Clinic. If cancer is found, further tests like CT scan or MRI will be carried out and the most appropriate treatment plan will be made in consultation with the patient.

Sometimes this treatment will have to be undertaken at The Royal Marsden hospital in Fulham Road. The Royal Marsden is a world-leading cancer centre specialising in diagnosis, treatment, care, education and research.

Referral to the Rapid Access Clinic is done by the GP by doing a letter to the hospital.

We aim to give an appointment within 2 weeks of receiving the GP referral.

  • "Best Hospital Experience I have ever had- Have just attend outpatients for tests. Had several visits to different departments- oncology, gynaecology, radiology. Very positive experience across the board. Appointments scheduled promptly. Without exception, every member of staff respectful and friendly- introducing themselves by name is such a simple thing but has a huge impact- I felt cared for and not just a number on an appt card. Was also pleased to be kept fully informed throughout. I am 52 years old and this was by far the best hospital experience I have ever had. Thank you." NHS Choices
