Information for parents and guardians
A pay and display car park is available. Daily parking permits for parents/guardians are obtained from Support Services in Regent Wing, open on weekdays from 8am until 12pm (midday). The cost is £6.00 for a daily permit or £20.00 for a 5-day permit.
We provide camp beds next to your child’s bed for one parent to stay overnight. Unfortunately, due to limited space we cannot provide accommodation for more than one parent. Siblings are not allowed to stay overnight. There is a parents sitting room where there is a television, comfortable seating, a microwave, kettle and fridge-freezer. Tea and coffee is provided and there is a donations box in the parent’s room. We would be grateful if you could wash up after yourselves and ensure the room is left clean and tidy. There is a shower and toilet on each side of the ward for your use. There is open visiting for parents and guardians. Other visitors are free to visit between 10am and 8pm.
If any visitors are ill or have been in contact with someone who has an infectious illness, such as chicken pox or have diarrohea and/or vomiting, please check with the nursing staff whether it is advisable to visit.
To help us maintain our hygeine, please use the alcohol rub when entering and leaving the ward areas.

Every bed has a Patientline screen. When you are admitted to the paediatric unit you will need to register with them. You can do this by pressing the green operator button on the handset. When you register your details you will be allocated a personal phone number. Your friends and family can then ring you on that number and you can ring out. Phone cards are available from a machine near the ward enterance. Patientline also provides a free TV service for children between 8am and 8pm. Parents may telephone the ward at any time. Please call 0208 546 7711, Ext 2323/2326.
When your child is discharged there are a number of things that we have to do before you go home. The doctor will write a discharge letter, a copy of which you will be given to take home, and a copy will be sent to your GP. If you need medicines to take home these will usually be dispensed from the pharmacy. You will be given full instructions on how often and how much medicine to give to your child.
