We know that volunteering improves patient experiences and enhances the services we provide. Kingston Hospital has a volunteering community of over 800 volunteers. The Trust welcomes volunteering applications from across the diverse communities we serve and is committed to a rewarding experience both for our volunteers and the people you'll be supporting.

We offer all volunteers the support they need to match time, talent and personal interests to the perfect role and placement. In return, the Trust asks for a minimum commitment of 6 months and at least 30 hours during this period. This is roughly 1.5hrs a week, although some roles will require more/less.

The Volunteering portfolio includes a range of roles across all aspects of hospital life, including:

  • Chaplaincy Volunteers
  • Dementia Volunteers
  • Dining Companions
  • Hospital 2 Home Volunteers
  • Maternity Volunteers
  • Emergency Department Volunteers

If you would like to get involved, first, read on to check that you meet our entry criteria:

  • Do you live, work or study within 5 miles of Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust?
  • Are you over 16 years of age (18 years of age for some specific roles)?
  • Can you commit to a minimum of 6 months and 30 hours (1.5hrs per week)?
  • Are you eligible to work in the UK?
  • Do you have an email address?

If you answered Yes to all of the above you would be eligible to apply, then please check out the current vacancies to get started and apply. If you can't make these commitments, then unfortunately we are unable to offer you a volunteering placement at this time.

Our team of Welcomers assist patients with directions and take them to where they need to go for their appointments around the hospital. They volunteer in the morning or afternoon Monday to Friday.
