Summary

Gastroscopy Is an examination of the inside of the Oesphagus (food pipe/gullet) stomach and duodenum, which takes 10-20 minutes. A gastroscopy is performed using a thin, flexible fibre-optic instrument that is passed through the mouth and allows the Endoscopist to see whether there are any abnormalities. You may need to have combined procedures to be performed one after the other in the same schedules appointment. There are separate patient information sheets available for Colonoscopy and Gastroscopy or Flexible sigmoidoscopy and Gastroscopy.
