Kingston Hospital wins 18th consecutive CHKS Top Hospital award

Wednesday 23 May 2018

Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has been named one of the 40 Top Hospitals at the annual CHKS Top Hospitals programme awards 2018. The awards celebrate the success of healthcare providers across the UK and are awarded to healthcare organisations for their achievements in healthcare quality and improvement. Kingston Hospital has now won the prestigious Top Hospitals award for 18 years in a row.

The Top Hospitals awards are data driven and this year, for the first time, the award considers all Trusts in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. This means Trusts do not have to be a CHKS client to be eligible for a Top Hospitals award. The award is made on the basis of an analysis of over 20 indicators including safety, clinical effectiveness, health outcomes, efficiency, patient experience and quality of care.

Ann Radmore, Chief Executive at Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, said: “I am delighted that Kingston Hospital has once again been recognised as one of the 40 Top Hospitals’ in the country. Our 18th consecutive award shows how we are consistently performing to a very high level and I am extremely proud of all our staff that we have been able to achieve this.”

Kevin McDonnell, Business Director, Capita Healthcare Decisions, said: “For the first time we have analysed data from every trust, whether they are a client of CHKS or not, for the Top Hospitals award. The award recognises outstanding performance in those areas which we believe are critical to delivering good patient care. We are delighted that Kingston Hospital is one of our Top Hospitals 2018.”

The CHKS Top Hospitals programme awards were held in London on the 15th May and hosted by NHS Confederation chief executive, Niall Dickson with guest speaker Dr Ed Coates. Over 200 guests including leaders from across the healthcare sector attended the event.
