Mums giving birth at Kingston Hospital have rated the Trust as the best in London for maternity services.
In a survey answered by women who gave birth in February 2013, Kingston’s maternity unit was rated as among the best in the country for two out of the three categories on the survey – quality of staff and care provided after birth. Kingston Hospital was the only Trust in London to be rated in the top 20% in the country for two out of the three categories.
Kingston was also rated as the best service in London in 2010.
Commenting on the survey Anna Dellaway, Head of Midwifery, Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust said:
“We are absolutely delighted that our mums have rated us again as the best in London. It is fantastic that our maternity services continue to be praised by the women who have had their babies in our unit and we are particularly pleased that we are able to give women a great care during what is one of the most special and memorable experiences for them.
“Our Maternity Unit is one of the busiest in London and all of our staff are dedicated to providing the best care to all mums and 6,000 babies we deliver every year.”
The areas where women score Kingston the highest were:
- Not being left alone by midwives or doctors when they were worried
- Clear communication
- Respect and dignity
- Partner involvement during labour and birth
The results are based on the responses of 227 women who gave birth during February 2013.
